Chief of Police: Jason Miller

Trained personnel provide full-time protection.  The department's up-to-date vehicles are in radio contact with all county law enforcement agencies as well as the Coldwater Fire Department and the Coldwater branch of the Mercer County Emergency Medical Services Squad.

Fire Chief: Brent Forsthoefel

Coldwater's Volunteer Fire Department is manned by 24 trained firemen and headquartered on N. 2nd Street.  Equipment includes three pumper/tanker units and a mini-pumper.  They also have a Jaws of Life tool to rescue people in vehicles.  The building and equipment are owned by the Village.  Protection extends to Butler Township under a contract with the Township Trustees.  The insurance rate classification for Coldwater is equal to or better than many paid fire departments in the state.
