Trained personnel provide full-time protection.
The department's up-to-date vehicles are in radio contact with all
county law enforcement agencies as well as the Coldwater Fire Department
and the Coldwater branch of the Mercer County Emergency Medical Services
Squad.

Fire Chief: Paul Streacker
Coldwater's Volunteer Fire Department is manned by 24
trained firemen and headquartered on N. 2nd Street. Equipment includes three pumper/tanker units
and a mini-pumper. They also have a Jaws of Life tool to rescue
people in vehicles. The building and equipment are owned by the
Village. Protection extends to Butler Township under a contract
with the Township Trustees. The insurance rate classification for
Coldwater is equal to or better than many paid fire departments in the
state.
